Act Now, Our Operators are Standing By

Grant is tired of only seeing his work in museums or in private collections, so in an effort to get his work out into the real world where it can be appreciated on the walls (or fridges) of fine homes like yours, we hereby announce a contest. The winner will receive in the mail, an original Granteeny drawing or painting as yet to be determined. The only catch is, I can't really think of what the rules should be. Maybe the contest should be whoever comes up with the best contest parameters wins the contest. Or....maybe whoever gives the most compelling reason for needing to own a Granteeny. OK, it is basically open season. I will chose a winner based on undisclosed rules and reasoning. So, make up some rules, make up a reason, tell me where it would hang, if you comment in anyway you are in the running and then I will arbitrarily chose a winner (if the past number of comments is any indication that leaves about a pool of three possible winners). Maybe I will chose the best comment, the comment from the farthest point on the globe, the tallest commenter, the closest blood relative; the possibilities are really endless. How does that sound? I've just upped the ante, the winner gets to chose which piece they would like (unless I really, really love it and then I will say it is already in a private collection and is unavailable). Perfect! Game on. Oh, the winner will be chosen on Friday.

If I am the only one to comment, will I win?

You very well may.

i couldn't imagine anything more new or more awesome than owning a granteeny.

i'm not related and don't live all that far from you, so let's not judge this on distance or blood. Let's just imagine one of these works of art hanging on my wall (among pieces by contemporaries such as jlc), in a city like san francisco that really understands young artists. plus, maybe i can promise to invite important and artistic people to my house from here on out, to really up the exposure?

Hmm...seeing as how I already have my very own granteeny, I feel it would be unfair of me to enter into this competition.

I can't not enter though, the opportunity to own two of my very own is intoxicating.

If I won the granteeny, I would post the image on my blog and promise to go visit the artist sometime in the near future and play chutes and ladders with him.

Promises of Shoots and Ladders may sway him. He got it for Christmas. I have to warn you though, he cheats.

wait a second. i didn't realize we might be able to appeal to/bribe Grant himself.

In that case, just tell him that I should win because that is how Thomas the Tank Engine would want it.

I think I should win because I was the first to blog about granteeny's blog. In fact I have found precious few other things to blog about since then as evidenced by my rarely updated b-log. Also, I'm the tallest person to enter this contest and I'm not related to the contest host, thus avoiding any conflict of interest that might be perceived by others viewing the proceedings of this contest. Additionally, I have (as you know, Joe) several of grants pieces saved in my iPhoto folder. Lastly, the walls of my home are terribly bare, which could be remedied in part by the display of grants renouned artwork.

Joe, I trust your judgment and will accept your final decision, even if it is not in my favor. That is another reason I should win.
